The ECOC (European Conference & Exhibition on Optical Communications) exhibition attracts over 6,000 decision-makers from across the globe and has over 250 international exhibitors exhibiting every year. Organised by Nexus Media Events, the annual event is hosted in different European cities and attracts thousands of attendees and visitors from the fiber optic communications industry.
ECOC Exhibition 2020 on its 25th anniversary was to host the event in Brussels, Belgium where it first originated but due to the restrictions and disruptions caused by the pandemic, the organisers decided to go fully virtual and make it their first online event.

The ECOC exhibition team required an online, secure, integrated virtual event platform for their first online event that would enhance the exhibitor experience for their attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors resulting in greater ROI and ROE given the new format. Having used Coconnex integrated event technology for many years, the ECOC team entrusted Coconnex to make their exhibition fully virtual.
The ECOC team wanted their exhibitors to get a feel of the live, in-person event in their virtual format, by providing them with a choice of custom 3-D stands that enabled exhibitors to dress their stand with branding colors and use the booth cockpit to showcase marketing material, pre-recorded product videos, have live chats, appointment scheduler and in-built video conferencing available to showcase their products and services and do it securely.
Coconnex pivoted the Self-service interactive floor plan to a fully integrated, branded virtual event platform for the ECOC exhibition to go live within a very short time. Coconnex provided a Single Sign-on registration for the event attendees to make it a seamless experience from start to finish. Coconnex also provided the ECOC exhibition team booth analytics for their sponsors and exhibitors to measure the success of their events. Throughout the virtual event, the Coconnex team partnered with the ECOC team giving live support to help exhibitors make this a successful online event.
The ECOC exhibition logged more than 95,000 total attendee interactions on the exhibitor booths for the event dates making it a huge success.
